Devlog 2: Prototyping
Hi!
In our second week of prototyping we built one playable prototype with all our core mechanics to get an idea of how our game is going to play, but most importantly, how fun it actually is. We made a game design model containing all elements from gameplay to small props in the level.
Our devs started worked on the prototype using the new knowledge they acquired lest week by conducting small tests in Unity. There were some hiccups with the NPC behavior and player interactions, but it worked out in the end. The core mechanics that we implemented are:
- The invisibility mechanic: the ghost can go trough walls for a small duration of time
- You can now also scare the npc's in the level. When they are scared they will run towards the exit of the hotel.
- A scary ghost hunter that patrols in the level. When he sees you he will suck you up and it's game over
- We also started working on intractable items in the level. We already have a light that can be turned on and off and a item you can trow around in the level to scare the NPC's.
Our artists completed the art bible and experimented with different features in Unity like the materials, importing meshes, shaders etc.
